About Sep
Sep Vermeersch is a versatile jazz, blues & swing dancer based in Gent, Belgium. He’s known for his positive energy and dynamic movement. He started as a ‘spontaneous’ dancer, shakin’ it in clubs and parties. This probably clarifies his unique, free and musical dancing style.

Today, you can find Sep performing, teaching, DJing and MCing for different projects all around the world. From performing authentic vintage dances with Mind The Beat to burlesque cabaret with Un Coup de Folies, to dancing and directing wild cabaret nights at AfrikaBurn. He’s go-go dancing and has been an MC for 10 years at electronic music festivals such as TomorrowLands’ Radio Ultra Modern stage. He performs as a dancer, actor and host at high end events for offices such as Criaturas and Strange People. Yet his natural habitat are the international Jazz dance Festivals, where you can find him facilitating workshops, team/teachers training or competing: solo, or alongside world class colleagues such as Alexia Legoueix or Helena Kanini Kiiru. Over the last 10 years, Sep worked for more than 60 different festivals, good for more than 100 bookings in some of the world’s most prestigious swing, jazz and blues dance festivals. 

Together with Leni Denorme, Sep created and runs LouisLou, the brand behind the extraordinary Upside Down Festival, Big City Blues and LouisLou’s Dance Madness. LouisLou is partner of the Swinging Europe Network project, part of Creative Europe where they function as a driving force for questioning and change.

Sep teaches the swing-era dances and solo jazz for Ghent finest authentic jazz dance school Crazy Legs. On weekends he travels around the world to teach solo or partnered up, mostly with Alexia Legoueix. He’s valuing more than the dance itself: the music, historical context, acknowledgement of being a guest in a black African-American culture and the ‘human aspect’ behind all of that. Be ready to be immersed in intense workshops where you will be invited to expand your dancing comfort zone. Come over and Jam! 

He has competed often with some of these results: 1st place at ‘ultimate best dancer’ at Harlem 2015, Strictly at Lindy Shock 2013, Solo Jazz at ILHC 2018 and Savoy Cup J&J 2018. He was second at solo Blues in ESDC 2015 and first place with Alexia at SnowBall 2017 slow dance contest. 

Since the pandemic hit, Sep stayed active as an independent creative. Louislou offered some of the most innovative online swing party experiences with 15 editions of BreakOut and they keep experimenting with many other ‘covid-proof’ events. U can also find him as a volunteer activist for The Global Play Brigade, or hosting and artistically co-creating online events, parties, webinars or fine classes. Since Sep kept on teaching, training and performing swing during the last year, he’s ready to get out and share his playful magic.
